Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
What is Life Cycle Assessment?
Life Cycle Assessment is a methodology for assessing environmental impacts associated with all the stages of a commercial product, process, or service. In short, it looks at the environmental implications that one product or service has on the world around it from production through to disposal.
LCA is a great way to improve and demonstrate the environmental impacts of your product or service. Data that is collected and analysed during the LCA can be used to inform production decisions and overall reduce the environmental impact of a business practice. An LCA can form part of the base data set used to develop a broader holistic sustainability strategy or corporate social responsibility policy.
It is common for tenders and panel applications to ask a business to disclose its environmental policies in an effort to vet supply chains for inadequate environmental practices or efficiencies. Having conducted a LCA for a product or service provides a benchmark against which sustainability improvements can be compared, demonstrating the business’ willingness to address climate change and adapt its processes to be more sustainable.
NettZero’s team of experienced sustainability consultants can undertake the necessary calculations and guide you through the complexity of an LCA, helping your business meet its environmental commitments and effectively do its part to battle climate change.
